They all stood in silence. Looking furtively at each other, then at the circle. None dared move, in an agreed deterrence. Then, Esgol relaxed her posture.
"Devan... Do you remember that promise we made ?"
Silently, Devan nodded.
"It's time to uphold your end of the bargain. I will take this role." And she started to advance towards the circle. Feaser tried to step forward, but after exchanging galnces with Devan, he stopped. Esgold was nearly in the circle.
All their devices rang. A voice spoke up from nowhere. "Stop now, all of you !
"It's me, Aria. I just... this keeps happening. Not even minutes ago, you were all working together. But now, suddenly, you're all trying to seize power ? Don't make me laugh. I'm tired of this. Again, and again, and again, I have seen people destroy each other.
"I have seen a senile old man doom all of humanity for a pointless dead dream. I have seen the beasts of the night murder each other to extinction. I have seen the beasts of the day destroy each other because of their greed and arrogance. I have seen their people, after overthrowing the tyrants, get mercilessly sweeped by something outside of everything.
"I am tired. I am incredibly tired, of everything. Of seeing those I love get swept away, killing each other for no reason. Using excuses such as doing it for the future, or for the past.
"So, I will make a world where only the present exists."
Everyone looked in the air. ANGEL-1-1-0-1-0 came down, and when it disappeared, Devan was gone.
"And how will you do that ? How will you enter the circle ?"
"One appeared in here. I have just now stepped inside it."
The circle on the ground started to fade. Esgol rushed over it, but it was already too late.
"And I will now begin... the recreation of the world."
